718 Oceanview has had a typically very varied history in Queen Charlotte …. actually maybe more than most.
Originally pulled on site from the water, this was an old Allison Logging Company camp building in the early 1960’s.
One of its early lives was as an “Alternate School” run by Pat Hennigan … love to know which kids remember this part of its history.
At one time it became the beginnings of “Flannagans Building Supplies” run by John Gerz before he expanded and moved to the centre of town.
Next came “Northwest Coast Book and Art” when the building had to expend to hold both retail and whole sales as well as packing house and office for a busy new Charlotte business with Bill Ellis. After Bill’s death Janet Brown took over for a couple of years until she moved the business near the Hospital.
Since then Mark Baggaley has used the space as storage and workshop space for his Contracting business … and it has served as storage of some non-profit organizations.
